Nguyen Tien Hoang (Thuong Quan) was born in 1956 in Da Nang, Vietnam.
He lives in Australia since 1977. A broadcaster and system analyst by profession,
his poems, essays and short plays have been published in Vietnamese literary
journals in Australia, Europe, North America and Vietnam. He has published
a collection of poems, 'Ngoai Giao Nga' (Beyond Sleep), edited 'Bushnights',
a book of photos and poems featuring 21 Australian poets, published 1994
by lichtbild, and translated poetry and plays for various literary journals
and revues. Nguyen Tien Hoang was a delegate sponsored by the Australia Council
for the Arts to speak on poetry in the Conference "Australia, Country, People
and Culture" organised by the University of Hanoi in 1995. In 1996 he was
awarded with a literary grant by Australia Council for the Arts.
